Im a bloody idiot and love to steal content from websites

Please do excuse the title on this post, but I want to discuss something that affects all bloggers, web designers and forum owners or anyone that posts original and unique content. I am talking about plagiarism or as I prefer to call it…………. Thieving Untalented Scum!

If you see this article on any website OTHER than http://mysiteranked.com then this is a stolen article

Some may think that comment is a bit strong but when you build a blog or a website and you find out that someone has stolen the content you have spent time writing, only to find out someone lazy shit has just copy and pasted your work to take credit for it themselves.

You might ask why I get annoyed about this?

Google being as big as it is and the most powerful search engine in the world and most likely will be for the next few years at least, cannot tell the difference between the original author and the thief. I sort of see where Google is coming from as I guess that would be next to impossible to tell the difference, Unless they start to index quicker and then only credit the first person that puts the content on the internet. Surely possible?

You may still be thinking why I have entitled this post “Im a bloody idiot and love to steal content from websites”?

Well this is because of a website called page2rss.com which scans a website and this posts it onto page2rss and takes all of your content and every time you update your blog or website it will just have a quick look and steal it all. This in turn makes your unique website or blog…….. Not unique!!

Very soon page2rss will take this article and then post it onto its own website, and of course they will have this title!

Simple as that!  This then means that Google will think that your website is just a load of crap and can hit your pagerank, page listings!

So now I have probably freaked you out a bit, you might be thinking how can I protect myself? And the truth is there isn’t really alot that you can do other than use tools to check your content from time to time and if you find someone stealing your content the email the owner and request they remove the content, You can contact the domain registrar nd sometimes they will delete the domain(godaddy are great for it) or the only other option is to contact the hosting company.

Some tools you can use to find out if someones stealing your content :

http://copyscape.com which is one of the well known plagiarism online detector but the only downside is that they only let you  see the first 5/6 websites and the rest you have to sign up and pay to use it. I like copyscape for a quick check if I see a website I might buy.

The Tool I prefer is http://www.articlechecker.com I have used this nearly two years and it has helped me find a couple of scum bags where copyscape has let me down.

I hope this post will help you to find out if someone is stealing your content and be able to take action if you need to.

    Hi Dan,
This is the one of the guys you just called an idiot. I have to tell you something.
Page2RSS is a service that help people to receive updates to pages the people interested in in the way they want – specifically in RSS feed. We never scan, crawl sites or bloody target you personally. Our service never been intended to “steal” content, we have a link to the original site at the very top of every feed page. All of the hundreds of thousands feeds in Page2RSS added by visitors. YOUR visitor, interested in YOUR content. The visitor, perhaps, didn’t found the feed link in your page and used the tool she knew and love – surprise! – page2rss.
We have removed your site from page2rss (and effectively CUT some of YOUR reader(s). Sorry for that, but that what you have asked for.
You know what, Dan. Don’t stop here. Ask all search engines to stop stealing and displaying your content and make it really unique.

I did not want my content on your website, and you have a small hissy fit when I requested my content on your website be removed. You get the arse ache because I dont want to use your service at the end of the day you didn’t give me a choice!!

You think because your website links to the original author then its ok to use the WHOLE content? That makes the authors content not original!

I happened to check my stats and I have not had a single visitor from your website in the last 6months, so its really not a huge loss and now you have removed my content from your website I am happy(after all I didnt request your service).

Google “duplicate Content” and see what a impact it can have on a blog or website!

As for bookmarking or search engines, they are usefull tools and only display discriptions and search engines dont affect seo as duplicate content, your site might as well just copy and paste!

I hade page2rss take content from my website, they claim people have submitted my domain into the website but I doubt that very much.

They dont give you a option to remove your content and if you email they are quite rude about it, even though they do remove content on request they get very childish about it!

They think because they link back to the original author that its ok to steal content, its not !!

A very good article well done

I hate that website, they call it a service but nobody wants it!

You would have a strong case with a Dmca report !!

  4. hate page2rss says:

Funny how they call it a service, its nothing more than a petty thief that try to squirm out of the crime once caught!

They should do like google and if someone submits a website then the person should verify that they have permission to submit it! I.e have a meta tag or upload a file!

They won’t though as they just steal content !!
