“SEO” maybe a term that could either confuse you or just something that your are not that interested in doing, but I’m sorry to say that you do need just a little knowledge about SEO or your website will simply fail. Getting traffic is not as hard as you may think and the hardest part of SEO is really quite simple.
The main part of SEO is what most “SEO experts” called on page optimisation and this is finding keywords that are suited to your website or “niche” that you think people would be searching for on the search engines like Google or Bing. A lot of website owners should do on-page SEO when they build the website by using the <*title> tags or building a article around certain words that you think could draw attention to your website.
When choosing keywords you need to find out what you think your potential viewers would be searching for and then placing those keywords into your website. You can pay companies or experts hundreds if not thousand of dollars but with a little bit of time and research, you can do the same job and more than likely have the same results than any expert can do for you.
The most important start to optimising your website is by using the title tags, and if your unsure what these are then you really need to research the basics of html before your attempt to get a website up and running, a website without the proper coding or meta tags can cause huge damage to your website.
A example of meta tags that you should be using for your website:
<*meta name="Description" content="This would be something about your business or website, keep it short " />
<*meta name="Keywords" content” Any keywords that you think would benefit your website, but don’t use loads of keywords " />
<*title>This title tag is very important but you need to have different title on every page of your website while keeping it short and to the point.</title>
Now you have your meta tags set up, you need to do some keyword research and you can do this with ease, with the help of Google Keyword Tool while also using Google for your researching also. Go over to Google Keyword Tool and work out which keywords you think would be useful for your website, if you have a website about Dogs then you might want to target keywords like:
+ How to look after a dog
+ How to feed a puppy
+ My puppy has worms
What I tend to do first is search is Google for a term I think might get traffic to my website, if you Google “My puppy has worms” and all you get in the page listings is Yahoo answers, Ezine Articles or forums then you know that you can dominate that keyword phrase as there isn’t many websites using that phrase, then you need to have a look in the Google keyword tool to see how many people would be searching that phrase, if you find its only a small number searching for those keywords then you will be wasting you time but if you see that Google shows that thousands of people are looking for the term” My puppy has worms” then you know that you can use those keywords on your website either in your title tags or using the words in a article or write up about your product. Once you have filled up a page using this method of keyword research then you can do the same on your other pages, this takes a bit of time but the rewards can be fantastic and the main thing about doing this is that you are saving yourself a lot of money.
I hope you enjoyed this article
